Material was donated to the Augusta-Richmond County Georgia Room through accruals from ca, 2010 to ca.2023 Donald O. Rhodes, better known as Don “Ramblin’” Rhodes died in Augusta GA June 9th 2023. An Augusta fixture, he wrote for the Augusta Herald, The Augusta Chronicle and The Augusta Magazine during the course of his career from 1970 to 2023. His nationally known column Ramblin’ Rhodes observed its 50th anniversary in 2020. His books include Down Country Roads with Ramblin’ Rhodes (1982), Entertainment in Augusta and the CSRA (2004), Ty Cobb: Safe At Home (2008), Say It Loud! My Memories of James Brown, Soul Brother No.1 (2009), Mysteries and Legends of Georgia (2010), Icons of Georgia 50 Views of the Peach State (2011), Legendary Locals of Augusta (2014), and North Augusta, The Western Gateway of South Carolina, Little Known Stories About A Little Known Town (2021).
