The pageant contest for Miss Richmond County Green and Little Miss Pine Seedling was held to raise awareness of the work of the Georgia Forestry Commission. The pageant’s sponsors were The Fleming Women’s Club, later the South Augusta Women’s Club, and the Richmond County Forestry Unit.
