Joseph R. Lamar, a resident of Augusta Georgia, was, by 1902, one of the most influential legal minds in Georgia at the beginning of the 20th century. Lamar was a Supreme Court Justice of the United States from 1911-1916. His boyhood home is at 415 7th St. next to the boyhood home of President Woodrow Wilson, Lamar’s lifelong friend.
