Sarah (Lallie) Adams Bulkley, daughter of Justus Robbins Bulkley and Mary Keziah Adams Bulkley was lost in the shipwreck of Ville De Havre on November 22, 1873. Her maternal grandmother and aunts were residents of Augusta.

The hardbound booklet contains a letter from Sarah’s mother Mary Buckley relating the circumstances of her daughter’s death, obituaries, and a long memorial poem which appeared in the Augusta Chronicle. Newspaper clippings record an account of the sinking of the Ville De Havre and copies of a shorter memorial poem.
