Frances J. Pratt Letters
Scope and Contents
Series of typed correspondences by Frances J. Pratt, the Director of Special Events for the U.S. Foreign Policy Association, written between the years 1929 and 1965. Working for the FPA, Pratt visited different cultures and met with leaders from around the world, all of which she details in the letters alongside her reaction to major international events, including the attack on Pearl Harbor, D-Day, the outbreak of the Korean Conflict, and the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Pratt began typing these letters just a millions of women started to join the workforce during World War II, and the letters end amidst the rise of second-wave feminism in the 1960s.
