Scope and Contents

The following issues are included: Volume 1, Number 2 (Spring Quarter, 1968) of Athens Area Action; and, after its title change to Athens Magazine, Vol. 2, No. 2 (Summer Quarter, 1969); Vol. 2, No. 3 (Fall Quarter, 1969); Vol. 2, No. 4 (Fall Quarter, 1970); and Vol. 3, No. 1 (Spring Quarter, 1971). The Vol. 3 notes that the title was being published four times annually. The WorldCat entry for Athens Area Action provides copyright dates of 1967 and 1968, suggesting that the first issue is dated Winter Quarter, 1967-68 (or simply Winter, 1967). Perhaps nos. 3 and 4 of Volume 1 are Summer Quarter, 1968 and Fall Quarter, 1968, respectively; however, either gaps in the schedule or mistakes in numbering do not allow us to conjecture about subsequent years. If Vol. 2, No. 1 was Spring Quarter, 1969, was there no Winter Quarter issue for 1968-69? Was there really a one-year gap between No. 3 and No. 4 of Vol. 2, or is the "Fall Quarter, 1970" a typo--that is, actually Winter Quarter 1969-70? Vol. 3, No. 1 being Spring 1971 suggests the latter. Further research will help clarify this publication's history.

This Athens Magazine, not to be confused with the periodical of the same name that began publication in 1989, was published by the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce.
