The National Scholarship Service and Fund for Negro Students records consist of correspondence, publications, newspaper and magazine articles, newsletters, notes, committee reports, meeting minutes, directories and financial records. The collection also includes brochures, audiovisual material, books, programs, grant proposals, photographs, reports, national profiles of black youth, student manuals, test preparation booklets, office records and ephemera.

The majority of the collection's dates are between the 1970s and 1990s, with some material from the 1960s.
