Biographical / Historical
In the Fall of 1965, a group of mothers began meeting to discuss the loach of nursery schools in Southwest Atlanta. The results led to the formation of the Parents Cooperative Nursery School in the summer of 1966. Atlanta University made available two unsuesd and dilapitated rooms in the basement of the Old Oglethorpe School. These rooms were renovated by the parents. Unfortunately the school caught on fire and everything was destroyed. The parents found new quarters in the parsonage of Central Methodist Church and opened ten days later. The school was the first interacial preschool in Atlanta.
