Scope and Contents
The Georgia African American Historic Preservation Network Collection was donated by Elizabeth A. Lyon, a former State Historic Preservation Officer of the Georgia Historic Preservation Division, in recognition of the efforts of the Georgia African American Historic Preservation Network and its program coordinators and projects.

Conditions Governing Use
This collection is available for use only at the Auburn Avenue Research Library. There are no restrictions on research use of the collection, but permission must be obtained for reproduction of materials for which the Research Library does not hold copyright to research only for "Fair Use" as defined in the copright law (Title 17, United States Code). Also permission must be obtained to publish reproductions from materials for which the Research Library does hold copyright for one time use only.
Biographical / Historical
"Georgia African American Historic Preservation Network (GAAHPN) was established in 1989. In 2000, the Georgia Legislature provided funding for a full-time African American programs coordinator position within HPD to provide staff support to GAAHPN's volunteer steering committee. In 2006, HPD received a National Conference of State Historic Preservation Officers (NCSHPO) Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation for establishing the nation's first African American program in a state historic preservation office" **taken from the Georgia Historic Preservation Division's website**
